Elise's Poetry

Haiku of Innerworkings
Inside my body,
A skeleton cries out loud
And chokes on my blood.
In a constant war
Between my weak flesh and bone,
Which one will survive?
How to Be Alive
Be somewhat alive
And run your feet in soft grass
Let time start to pass.
Be fairly alive
And hold a tiny baby
In your bigger arms.
Be the most alive
Try to see: how much you mean
To a soul like me.
Cardigan
Quick
Unravel me so
You can use my soft red wool
To cover yourself
Shh!
Don’t speak anymore
My soft yarn will now leave me
I want it on you
Cardigan
I was so special
Here, it will be worn by you
You are precious too
Just So You Know
When hearts weave small sounds
They will leave your hopeful mouth
And something will start.
If she quite likes stones,
Give her each pebble you see
Pocket it, hold hands.
If he glances at
Specific books and shows you,
Spend your money well.
With all of these rules,
There is nothing more crucial
Than to remember:
Shed tears in warm rooms
Heartaches will never leave, yet
Here: simple gladness.
